RedTagCrazy Rules to Live By

March 7th, 2009 by Cayla in Cayla, How To..., Humor, Red Tag Crazy, red tag crazy blog

Okay, so here are just a few RTC rules.  I KNOW you ladies have AT LEAST one you could add to my list.  So, PLEASE share with me your rules, and I will add them to the blog!

1. Be on time. And by that I mean be at your computer, ready for the next item to pop up. If you are not paying attention when a new item comes up, it is your own fault for missing your size when it sells out. :)

2. Do not complain. This is my pet peeve.  If there is an item up, and it is on sale for 50 dollars when it is regularly 200, please do not complain about the price being too high.  We understand that 50 dollars may be a little more expensive for some than others, but compared to the price we could be paying we really have no reason to complain.

3. Do not under-estimate our buying abilities.  If there are 10 items up with an hour time left, do not think that those 10 items will be up there for the entire hour.  Especially if it is a new item-they tend to sell out in minutes.

4. Do what you have to do. By this, I mean, if it is time for you to get ready for work, and you really need a shower, but you are afraid something amazing is coming up next, take the laptop with you into the bathroom, place it on the toilet in eye’s view, and take a bath.  This is called killing two birds with one stone.

a. Do not type on your computer in between washing your hair, shaving your legs, washing your body, etc.  This can be very dangerous and disastrous to your laptop.

5. Go with your gut.  A new linQ top comes up-your heart skips a beat. Then you look down, and see there are only 4 left.  Snag that baby. You know you will regret it if you don’t.

6. Know your size.  Many of the regulars on RTC are good at spitting out sizing clues the minute an item pops up.  Such as: “size up on these”, etc.  However, it is always good to know your size, just in case there is not anyone around to help you.  Don’t forget, though, there are many blogs that display the items and give sizing advice as well. Still not sure of your size? Read this.

7. Be nice! I should not have to explain this one. We should all be respectful to one another, and show respect to the Admins, as well. :)

8. Ask Jaime. If you are ever in question, Jaime usually has an answer.  She is our “go-to-gal”.  Love you JP. :)

9. Give advice! If you have advice, share it! We would love to hear how a particular brand or item fits you, and even better, show us pictures!! Send pictures and give advice, please! :)

10. Read the directions. If you buy a linQ item that is silk-accented, read the directions on how to wash it.  We can’t help it if your item is destroyed because you chose to wash it with a load of your husband/boyfriends work clothes.

11. Keep coming back! I am sure this will be an easy one to follow.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to come back for more?  And, if you haven’t seen something you like just yet, don’t give up.   Keep coming back, there is always more to come!

12. Be patient. This is a tough one.  It is hard to be patient when there are 58 minutes left, and there is one pair of size 24 jeans staring you in the face. Delayed gratification is the key; new items are always worth the wait.  The admins are working hard, so we should work hard to be patient for them. :)

13. Make friends. Okay, so not all of us can be on here at all times.  This is what friends like JP are for.  Make a friend or two, and have them text you if a new item comes up. This way, you can do what you need to do, without worrying that you will miss something great! (Editor’s Note: I love you guys, but nobody else is getting my cell number. A girl’s got to sleep eventually! -JP)

14. Be open-minded. I will admit I had never even entertained the thought of paying more than 60 dollars for a pair of jeans… until I found this site… and met JP.  RTC has opened me up to many new things, and it is ALWAYS good to try something new every once in a while.

15. Prepare for addiction. Just a heads up, if you are new to this site, prepare to become addicted really quick.  It is inevitable.  Just know, you are not the only one, we are all in this together.

Along with the “don’t complain” one- Don’t whine if the item up for sale isn’t your style. If you think something is ugly, don’t say “OMG, this is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.” You might unintentionally hurt someone’s feelings who really likes the item. Drives me nuts when people do this.

And one more, this is more general netiquette though: Unless you are actually yelling, do not type in all CAPS. It makes you look like you’re yelling. Use this sparingly for emphasis… or to announce a crazy sale. :)

Can we add to this:

BUY A TAPE MEASURE

Even if people are able to give advice, what you wear in this and that designer may not always translate properly. And considering that you aren’t visible to those giving advice, you would be better off

1. Buying a tape measure (they’re cheap)
2. Measuring yourself and writing down the pertinent info
3. Keep it by your computer or commit the measurements to memory
4. Consult the size charts (nearly all of the products have them)
5. Buy accordingly

That is not only the quickest and easiest way to get your size, but it is the MOST ACCURATE. :)

Great list Cayla. I am always comforted to know I am not the only one setting a kitchen timer so I am sure to go back to the computer on time!!
