What Kind of Shopper Are You?

March 24th, 2009 by Aranda in Aranda, anything goes

Everyone shops… even men, although your most manly of men will declare that the word shopping is not even in their vocabulary.. later you find them in the Bass Pro Shop. Have you ever seen anyone in the store browsing for atleast 20 minutes before they pick up something or others who will study the brands, tags, sizes and be in such an awe with an item and then they drop it and walk quickly out the store? Or the complete opposite, the ones who look at an item for 5 seconds, grabs it and goes looking for the next? We all have seen these people out in the stores and you fit into ones of these categories also. Have you ever wandered what kind of shopper you are? I have complied a list of people that may help you to identify yourself; maybe you want a change; if you do.. pick another category and ATTEMPT to CHANGE! Shopping for some is like an addiction and changing your habits could cause bodily harm to themselves or others… beware!

The Savvy Shopper She is smart, patient and loves to window shop! Online shopping is the best for her; thats why she loves RTC! She is not so quick to click that big, pink ”BUY IT” button. Instead, she sits in front of the computer all day long awaiting for the best buy! She’ll only spend her hard working $$ on things that are a must-have and it must be an absolute, without any doubts kind of purchase. She doesn’t spend a lot of money on the “things that are in now”. She would rather buy the casual boot cut denim rather than the ruffled shirt with a wide belt. She may see something she totally loves but will wait to buy it until it goes on sale. RTC is definitely her favorite place to shop; cute clothes, reasonable prices and from time to time a CRAZY sale might just stop by! So as she is glaring at her computer screen while a pair of Paige denim pop up on the screen, her fellow chick chatter says omg, I def. going to buy this! as she hits the ”BUY IT” button…

The Impulsive Buyer Why wait? “You’re going to miss out if you wait” she says to the savvy shopper. “My husband may get mad, but once he sees me in this; he’ll say.. why didn’t you get 2?” She loves to buy on the impulse, without thinking twice is her motto! Her life is too busy to worry about spending money or too much money. If she wants, she has got to have it! She thinks that she worked way too hard for her money to just be sitting around and she has dealt with too much stress to not get what she wants, so she’ll goes shopping not only as retail therapy but also as a get away. Buying things makes her feel accomplished and needed.

The Closet Shopper These are the ones with a bit of an addiction “problem”; if you want to call shopping a problem.. personally, I don’t! haha She buys tons of clothes, piles them into her car, drives home.. notices her husband’s car is in drive way, leaves her clothes in the car.. waits till midnight, runs outside, piles the clothes with the other new clothes that she bought the day before into the closet, attempts to close the door without much ease, slides into bed with a big grin.. knowing she got away with it. Online shopping is also another fav of hers; send the package to the office and the hubby will never know!

The “bread and meat” kind of shopper “What are talking about? Wait to buy something, and why would anyone be impulsive to buy an item without thinking about it; I only buy the things I need”. This person only buys items that she needs. You may see her in same clothes that she was wearing at 21st birthday party. For her 35th birthday, the best present would be a gift card to Macy’s and a RTC $5 cash card. She is the happiest person you have ever seen especially since she owns such little. You may see her ever once in a while in the women’s clothing department; she is by no means a fashionista but she buys things that matters to her. She is a peice of humble pie; while we don’t even amount to a bite. We should all strive to be more like the “bread and meat” kind of shopper.

Personally, I feel I am a mixture of all 3 but the closet shopper, most of the time I’m a savvy shopper, while RTC has made me to become quite a bit like the impulsive buyer. I know that I need more humble pie in every aspect of my life, not just when it comes to shopping.

Our economy needs all these types of shoppers! They keep the money flowing and the demand high! That is why RTC was created, a demand was there but no one was listening to ALL of the shoppers! All of these groups are important; the impulsive shoppers help get the new items sold, while the savvy shoppers help get the older items out as well (Savvy shoppers do buy new items too, don’t get me wrong). The closet shopper helps almost on a daily basis, so to her I want to say thanks! Cause when I’m waiting for the better deal, she just bought that deal and the better deal. The bread and meats keep the classics rolling around decades after decades. What kind of shopper are you and starting today (since today is the first day of Spring) what kind of shopper will you evolve to be?
