Missy’s Favorite Five Authors!

April 17th, 2009 by Missy in Book Review, Missy

I used to have ALOT of free time. Not so much anymore. But, I still love to read. Reading is a relaxer to me. I can get my mind off of everyday stress and just have peace with a good book. I am also the person that finds and author that I like and I will read every book they wrote. Then I am ill because I have to find a new author and it starts all over again. Out of all the books that I have read over the years I have a top 5.

1. Candice Bushnell- Yes, she is the author of Sex In The City. She writes about money, glamour, and all of the little things that most women dream of. I am in the middle of One Fifth Avenue right now. I must say though, out of all of her books this has taken me the longest to get in to. I liked Four Blondes and Trading  Up but Lipstick Jungle was my favorite.

2. Janet Evanovich-  If you like less romance but love suspense, you will love Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series.  There are 15 in the series right now and you will read them in a matter of days.  (actually the 15th comes out in June) but there are 3 other side books in the series. These are the books that you do not want to put down because you are dying to see how it ends. She also has another series, Metro Girl and Motor Mouth which will also keep you entertained. She has many romance novels that have been re-released and a list of romance novels that she has co-authored. I love anything by her!

3. Jennifer Weiner- She is newer to the writing scene but she is amazing. Her books are #1 on my chick lit list. She can make you laugh and cry all in the same chapter. She is actually the funniest author that I have read. She has an amazing talent of connecting with her readers and just totally putting herself out there. She wrote the book In Her Shoes that is now a movie starring Cameron Diaz.  I would recommend starting with the book Good In Bed.  Certain Girls is the follow up to it. All of them come highly recommended!

4. Tasmina Perry- She is an author from the UK so it is a little harder to find her books. I had to get them on eBay. I love the way she writes. To me  her writing is curiously sexy. You always wonder what the hot, rich, famous girls are up to next. These are not in a series she just always writes about rich, beautiful women that get what they want. You will love all of her books! The have suspense in them too. I have only read Gold Diggers and Daddy’s Girls and loved them both. I can’t find Guilty Pleasures in the US.

5. Jackie Collins- Last but not least I love Jackie Collins.  I have read every book the she has written. She keeps your mind busy! All of her books have power, passion, and glamour! I love all of her series including Lucky Santangelo , Madison Castelli, and her Hollywood series.  I think the Lucky Santangelo series is my favorite. It is a high class mob-related  series that will keep you on your toes and leave you wanting more. It hard for me to pick because there is not a book that she has written that I didn’t like. Many of her books, but not all, should be read in a certain order so check before you pick up a random novel.

I have many of these books if you want to read them just let me know. Also if you like these authors and know any similar to them or others I should I would appreciate you letting me know. I am always on the hunt for something new.

I love the Stephanie Plum series. Love it to pieces. I imagine that Morelli is much hotter than Brad Pitt could ever dream to be….oh, books.

O my gosh..Mis i love Jennifer Weiner..She is my favorite!! I have read every single book. Her covers are so pretty and girly. I wish she would hurry up with another one..

You might like Marian Keyes. She is from Ireland and has the best books..She kind of reminds me of Jennifer Weiner..My favorite Rachel’s Holiday!!
