Over the past several weeks, I noticed that there has been a great deal of talk about how to wash our LinQ tops; specifically, how to care for the delicate silk trim.Well, I have had a few trials and errors myself and I thought it might be helpful to share some of those with you, along with my final established “LinQ washing routine”!
First of all, if you wash your LinQ shirts in a standard wash cycle with other garments, you can be assured of one thing… your silk trim will now look like the dog had it for lunch! (Ask Cayla, she can verify!).
The first thing to keep in mind is that the silk trim is unfinished. Therefore, any amount of washing is bound to affect it some. This being said, my original LinQ garments I washed in the washing machine, delicate/hand wash cycle, using gentle detergent (Woolite). The silk trim on these original garments has done fairly well; however, the trim does show some slight signs of unraveling.
Therefore, I sought to do better by my newer LinQ items. With my newer LinQ garments I tried a different wash plan.I would fill the washer with water – leave the lid open so that it would not spin – and then just let them soak. After soaking for a while, I would hand rinse them and lay flat to dry. When washed in this manner, the silk trim looked virtually new. You can also do this same method by just using a wash tub or the bathroom sink or tub.
One last note. Some of the girls have expressed concern over the deeper colored shades. Therefore, I have started adding some white vinegar when washing my deep purple, blues and reds. So far, all my LinQ has held its color beautifully.
Now, just in case you are now asking yourself “Do I really want to go to all this trouble?”, let me just leave you with this thought…
If you are going to invest your money in quality clothes, you should invest your time in quality care of those clothes in order to keep them beautiful!
