Back for edition 2 of the “get it for less” blog! And, again, since I love shoes…this second edition about the blog will also be about getting shoes for less. But I promise to eventually cover other items of clothing, too. As I mentioned previously, though, shoes are a key staple of your wardrobe, so – covering how to get great shoes for less is important. And you need LOTS of fab shoes to mix and match your new RTC pieces!
For this blog edition, I decided to take a look at some fabulous shoe booties. Now, shoe booties are a trend that not everybody is in to, but I really like the look of them. They’re versatile – you can wear them with thick tights or leggings when it’s still a little chilly outside, but you can also wear them sans tights when it heats up in the spring/summer months. Here is a gorgeous little pair of shoe booties which I’ve been dying to get ever since laying eyes on them:

Gee Wawa Women’s Gambit Heeled Bootie Sandal at amazon.com, $277.95
With a nearly $300 price tag, this shoe is definitely an investment. I understand that not everybody can shell out $300 for a trendy shoe; still, the supple leather and architectural shape of this shoe do make it a great potential investment shoe. Especially if it goes on sale. But, if you (like me) can’t justify the price tag, I’ve found some wonderful alternatives so that you can try out the shoe bootie look…on any budget! Here are the alternatives:

Criss Cross pump ivory, makemechic.com, $24.50 — A little less shoe bootie feel, but still keeping with a similar platform, banded look

BCBG Dana Bootie at endless.com, $71.47 – Slightly different look, but still trying out the trend in a slightly more conservative shoe bootie

Tri-Strap Platforms, Charlotte Russe, $32.99 (Ta-da! They look SO similar to the $300 shoe! I LOVE them.)
There you have it – some great, affordable alternatives to the shoe bootie trend! And the last shoe from Charlotterusse.com is incredibly similar to the Gee Wawa $300 shoe…I was even shocked to find it! So, my recommendation for those of you who want to test out some shoe booties: try one of the less-expensive shoes. There are so many affordable choices out there, and some look ridiculously similar to their designer counterparts. Still, if you think that this is a shoe style that you’ll want in your wardrobe a long time, consider a more-expensive pair. The higher-quality materials will outlast the cheaper shoes, for sure. But, if you’re like me and just want to dabble in a trend before making an investment…go with one of the less-expensive but just-as-fab options!
