Chicago Chic – Chicago is so (NOT) Two Years Ago

July 6th, 2009 by Katie in Katie, anything goes

Tell me you know that Fall Out Boy is the band that inspired the title of this blog, or at the very least say that you know Fall Out Boy is from Chicago. If you don’t, I’ll forgive you, because it’s not common knowledge that the lead singer, Pete Wentz, owns a night club in the city or even hails from the suburbs of the Windy City.

Okay. If Fall Out Boy doesn’t come to mind when you think of Chicago, then what does? The Cubs? The Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue)? Navy Pier? Whatever it is, I doubt that it’s the hundreds of boutiques and specialty shops that are tucked away in the neighborhoods that surround downtown Chicago.

downtown Chicago

I’ve lived in Chicago for a year now, but I spent four living in the northern suburb of Evanston while I attended Northwestern University. Needless to say, I’ve spent my fair share of time exploring what the city has to offer beyond the magical shopping experience that is Michigan Avenue. Chicago Chic is my feature blog dedicated to all that is fashion in Chicago. false

I’ll focus on the hard-to-find and rarely publicized specialty shops and boutiques that Chicago tourists are missing out on and maybe – if I get really inspired – I’ll highlight trends (good and heinously bad!) that make Chicago the fashion epicenter of the Midwest. (You didn’t really think we all sit around in corn fields wearing overalls and flannel shirts, did you?) :)
