Britney Style-y: Payless ShoeSource

September 11th, 2009 by Britney in Bargain shopping, Shoes, shopping

When I was younger, I used to hate going to Payless ShoeSource. I would say every pair was ugly just to get out of there as quick as possible. I thought that shopping at Payless ShoeSource meant that you were poor and/or had no fashion sense. Girl, was I wrong!?

I just recently discovered Payless when I needed cute black flats for a funeral and couldn’t find any decently priced shoes that fit the style of the shirt I had bought or that were comfortable enough to wear all day. I had gone to Marshall’s, Ross, Target, and Wal-Mart to find A) inexpensive shoes that were uncomfortable or B) comfortable shoes that were out of my price range. As I was driving home after finding absolutely nothing, I remembered Payless was around the corner, so I decided to stop in and see what they have. Couldn’t hurt, right? Well, look what I found!

American Eagle Black Kitten Heels

These actually have a 1/2 inch heel, but you can’t tell because of the carpet. According to the shoebox, American Eagle is not affiliated with American Eagle Outfitters which is a bit confusing, but whatever. At first, I didn’t think they would be comfortable because of the pointy toe, but I was wrong. My toes didn’t get squished together at all! I can’t wait to wear them again.

I went back about two weeks later to get more shoes, just because. :)

American Eagle Ruffle Flats

These are also American Eagle brand. Black was also available in this style, but I opted for the reddish-purple. I’m a colorful person. :) The ruffles are structured, so there is no way they will get smashed and messed up in my closet.

Airwalk Mocassins

This is my favorite pair of shoes right now. Comfy, casual and bright. I like to wear them with my blue Zooey racerback tank.

Lela Rose for Payless Striped Flats

I love the little bit of red on these flats. It makes the pair much more versatile. They have a vintage feel to them as well because the black stripes are sort of faded. Lela Rose for Payless had quite a few pairs I would’ve liked to wear, but my size had sold out. :(

City Sneaks Shoes

These are very similar to Ked’s, and I think they are so cute. And yes, I double-knot my laces! :D

American Eagle Floral Kitten Heels

Pinky toe cleavage! These have a 1/2 inch heel, but it’s hidden by the carpet. Very fitting for spring, especially with the strappy heel.

After this trip, I can definitely say that I will continue to shop at Payless ShoeSource. :)

Hi…just came across your site and just thought you might like to add these flats to your repertoire. You can go directly to my blog which is mysoleilcomfyshoe.wordpress.com or directly to soleilshoeco.com to check out this line, they come in 4 great colors, incredibly affordable with a tote to carry your heels in when your feet start hurting. These flats are rollable, foldable and ultra compact so they can fit in your purse, now how cool is that!! Right now we are having a 25% sale but only until the 24th of Feb. I love heels but when my feet start hurting it’s time to put them to bed in the lovely Soleil tote and put on these comfy flats. Let me know what your thoughts are. Blessings.

You’re lucky you went so recently…I used to love them when I was younger, then they went to a crap shoot in both style and quality. Only recently (within the last year) have they finally gone back to the great quality and style I knew them as.

Unfortunately the closest one for me is about an hour away…which I just happen to be driving by today, so I might pop in to see if I can find those awesome black kittens! :)
