Me and My Body – A Love/Hate Relationship

May 26th, 2009 by Theresa in Advice, Diets, Measurements, anything goes, health

There is an image in many minds of how a beautiful woman should look: small waist, perky chest, slightly voluptuous hips.  Curvy, but not chubby.  I’ll admit, I fell for that type of thinking for years.  I’ve always struggled with my weight, yo-yo dieting and feeling as if an hourglass-shaped body was the key to happiness.  I never quite got to the point where I loved my body; I constantly felt as if I were 10 pounds away from being happy with myself. read more…

Be Healthier: Nutrition Mythbusting

May 4th, 2009 by Jinny in Jinny, Red Tag Crazy, exercise, fitness, health, red tag crazy blog

Nutrition is a whole topic that is much to large to write about in one blog.
I am going to take it in increments. It’s like saying, ‘Ok guys I’m going to
tell you all about Sociology in one blog’.

Today’s post is going to be on myth busting regarding nutrition and
exercise.

Eating Disorder Awareness: Anorexia Athletica

April 26th, 2009 by Jinny in Jinny, exercise, fitness, health

So I’m a bit late on Eating Disorder Awareness Week, but what the hey. I believe awareness is the first step in preventing many diseases. I have worked in eating disorder clinics and can tell you that there are many more diseases than Anorexia and Bulimia. Many people don’t know about many of them such as, EDNOS, COE, Anorexia Athletica, SED-NOS, PICA, night eating, BDD, Orthorexia, and Bigorexia, are just a few that are starting to be recognized as diagnosable eating disorders. In this post I’d like to discuss proper cardio and exercise in moderation.

All About: Diets, Diets, Diets!

April 23rd, 2009 by Jinny in Diets, Jinny, Red Tag Crazy, exercise, health, red tag crazy blog

Okay, I believe this is a very important topic to cover since there are so many diets out there and people seem to be so utterly concerned about dieting. In today’s post I plan on going over some of the most popular fad diets, why they are bound to fail, why they are unhealthy, and what the best “diet” really is. I hate the word diet. It is too often associated with weight loss. First of all a diet can be to gain, lose or maintain weight. A person’s diet is what they eat on a daily basis. Newborns’ diets consist of milk. I just want to make sure that when I say ‘diet’ you don’t think ‘cutting calories’ or ‘lose weight’ or ‘weight watchers!’. I mean diet in it’s original form: habitual nourishment. Eat healthy for life not just a few months. The ultimate goal here is to change ones lifestyle in a beneficial way to promote health and longevity.

Eat Right, Eat Healthier: Have A Healthy Pantry

April 12th, 2009 by Kia in Red Tag Crazy, health, red tag crazy blog

Healthy Fridge? Check. Healthy Freezer? Check. We’re 2/3 of the way there – all that’s left is to “healthy up” your cabinets. Since I went into all sorts of detail about whole grains and pasta, I’ll refrain from listing those in my list of healthy pantry staples to have on hand as the cornerstones of your meals.  Here are the top ten items I keep stocked in my “healthy eating pantry”

Eat This, Not That: Part Two

April 5th, 2009 by Missy in Food, Missy, Red Tag Crazy, anything goes, health, red tag crazy blog

We previously covered what you should and should not eat at restaurants. Many of those surprised me. It seems like I try to get the most unhealthiest thing on the menu. So now to the grocery store. Many manufacturers make their products look like the healthiest choice but you can’t always judge from the packaging. I am going to break it down by meals.
