A Wine Sidebar: Vintages

February 13th, 2009 by Kristen in How To..., Kristen, Wine, anything goes

I just wanted to take a minute to talk about vintages, since I’ve mentioned them quite a bit in my latest blogs. To recap, a vintage refers to the year the grapes were grown (not the year the wine was bottled). The reason that vintages are important is because they reflect all of the conditions in that year that influenced how the grapes grew, and essentially, the flavor of those grapes.

A linQ Cashmere Sweater & Thoughts

February 10th, 2009 by Jaime in anything goes, denim

So, I’m feeling kind of important and cool right now… I just got my first official fan mail. It’s the only thing, other than hate mail (which, seriously, who would send hate mail to somebody who writes about denim? Honestly, that’s just absurd.), that makes me feel like I’m doing something right.

I’d like to say that a ton of planning and thought goes into each of these entries, but… you know, I’m not going to lie to you. I’m a broke, unemployed college graduate. All I have is time (particularly when I have this big house to myself… you’d laugh at the dreadfully wonderful horror movies I’ve chosen to watch, like Lindsay Lohan’s I Know Who Killed Me… gets me every time. :D ) , so all I really want to do is sit here, shop with you guys and blog.

Six Rules for the Fashion Savvy

February 8th, 2009 by Kristen in Kristen, anything goes

I am not a fashionista. I don’t have closets of name brands or $500 heels. Nor do I have a bank account that can fulfill that fantasy. Although I wish I did! Believe me; I’m no different than any other female who dreams big when she’s sitting in the doctor’s waiting room reading Elle and Vogue.

But this is not a tale of woe. I don’t linger on what I don’t have; I focus on what I do. First and foremost, I have passion. How could I not? I’ve been fortunate enough to find some steals here and there. A designer pair of jeans at a discount store, a silk halter dress on a clearance website. And I knew once I tried them on and saw what a good cut could do to my figure – and my self-esteem – that I had to have more.

It’s kind of like when you get that first bottle of well-produced, top-line wine. Or you try that first bite of extremely expensive French restaurant food. You can’t have it all the time, but you can’t go back either. So what do you do?

JP’s Top Ten, Part Two (with bonus questions!)

February 8th, 2009 by Jaime in Poll Questions, denim, top ten

Some of the girls around RTC have been asking me to set up a polling question, so Surprise!

I’m going to give you two:

1. The one most requested: What nickname do you want me to have? The person who makes the most popular nickname will get special recognition here, and possibly (most likely!) get some redtagcash out of it! Plus, I’ll make it into my new email address, so I’m easily reached.

2. I’ve been petitioning Melissa and SA for some theme-based shopping days. What kinds of things would you like to see as a part of its own day of sales (Everyone already knows what my answer would be, so get creative!)

And now, what you all have been waiting for, the rest of my top ten:

A little more background, and Part One of JP’s Top Ten!

February 7th, 2009 by Jaime in anything goes, denim, top ten

So, you came back for round two. Welcome! I’m here, like I am everyday; shopping and carousing with the locals at RTC. And, I’ve finally got my amount saved over $1,000… and that was with only spending about $250. RTC is my bank account’s hero.

You might be wondering how it is that I became the queen of denim here (or, as I like to affectionately refer to myself, a Denim Debutante). Some days, so do I. But, here’s the basic round up of how this all started for me:
